Robber fly (family Asilidae) feeding on its prey. The robber fly, or bee killer, is a predator of flying insects. It has a short, powerful proboscis, used for sucking the juices of its prey. More than 7000 species of robber flies are known. Photographed in Toachi Pilaton valley, Pichincha, Ecuador.
