Common yellow dung fly (Scathophaga stercoraria) on knapweed. Male common yellow dung fly resting on an old knapweed (Centaurea sp.) seedhead. These flies aggregate and mate in the vicinity of cow pats, where the female will later lay her eggs. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in April.
