Wavefront generator in use. Wavefront generators are capable of introducing optical distortions (aberrations) to a beam of light. They are extremely accurate at very high (primary) standards and are used in the testing of high quality optical equipment. This ensures the quality of optics in consumer goods such as digital cameras and mobile telephones, as well as other optical systems where a high level of accuracy is required. For an image of this device not in use see C001/1576.
