Ladybird larva. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the larva of a ladybird (Coccinella sp). In common with the mature ladybird, this larva is an active predator, feeding on smaller insects such as aphids. Ladybird larva are used as biological control agents against garden and crop pests. Magnification: x50 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
