Skull and brain anatomy, artwork. The brain and its different regions (coloured areas) are inside the cranial cavity. At left, the facial bones form the front of the skull. The spinal cord (not seen) descends from the brain through the spine, and spinal nerves (yellow) are seen branching out from the neck region of the spine. The coloured regions of the brain include the cerebellum (brown, rear and base of the brain), the frontal lobes (red), the parietal lobes (blue), the temporal lobes (orange), and the brainstem (yellow).
