Cat breeds. 19th-century artwork of six breeds of the domestic cat (Felis silvestris catus). At bottom is a Cyprus cat from the island of Cyprus. At top is a Siamese cat from Thailand. At upper left, below the Siamese cat, is a Chartreux cat from France. The three breeds across centre are, from left to right: a Turkish Angora from Turkey, a Persian cat (Khorasan) from Persia (Iran), and a Chinese breed. Artwork from the 21st volume (first period of 1898) of the French popular science weekly 'La Science Illustree'.
