Herpes iris et circinatus and erythema nodosum. Historical medical illustration of cases of herpes iris et circinatus (Fig.1) and erythema nodosum (Fig.2 and 3). Erythema nodosum is an inflammatory condition characterised by inflammation of the fat cells under the skin. From Atlas of Venereal and Skin Diseases by Prince Albert Morrow, published in 1889.
