NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, Russian cosmonaut Oleg Novitskiy of Roscosmos, and ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet, are scheduled to launch from here on 18 November 2016 on Expedition 50 to the International Space Station. A supermoon occurs when the Moon is at perigee, the closest point to the Earth in its orbit.
