PMMA acrylic glass polymer. Molecular model of the polymer poly(methyl methacrylate), also known as PMMA or acrylic, and marketed under trade names such as Plexiglas, Acrylite, Lucite and Perspex. The molecular formula of the base unit is C5.O2.H8. There are ten base units shown here, joined to form a polymer structure. This transparent thermoplastic is a synthetic polymer of methyl methacrylate. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey), hydrogen (white) and oxygen (red). Illustration.
