Cryptosporidium parvum, microsporidial infection (cryptosporidiosis) in human intestine, coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM). Cryptosporidium parvum is an apicomplexan protozoan that can cause respiratory and gastrointestinal infections called cryptosporidiosis. The infection primarily involve watery diarrhoea (intestinal cryptosporidiosis) with or without a persistent cough (respiratory cryptosporidiosis).
