Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Bordetella holmesii, Gram-negative, aerobic, coccobacillus prokaryote (dividing). Causes respiratory infections. It is associated with septicaemia, endocarditis and respiratory illness, especially in immunocompromised patients, such as AIDS patients. Magnification: x4,400 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
