Caption

Grey mould. Close-up of a ripe strawberry (Fragaria sp.) infected with grey mould (Botrytis cinerea). Grey mould is a fungal disease, which is also known as Botrytis bunch rot. It can be caused by excessive moisture. To prevent this from occuring, strawberry plants are planted using straw to elevate them above the soil.
