Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Polyester thread in the eye of a sewing needle. A sewing needle is used in sewing to pull thread through fabric. It has a pointed tip at one end and a hole or eye at the other. They are usually made from high carbon steel wire and are nickel plated for corrosion resistance. Magnification: x7 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
