Caption

President Kennedy at Cape Canaveral. Footage of US President John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) arriving by motor car at the Gemini briefing part of his tour of NASA facilities at Merrit Island, near Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA, on 16 November 1963. Kennedy is in the second car (flying US flags) of the motorcade, seen arriving at the Saturn Control Center Complex 37. After getting out of the car, NASA Administrator James Webb introduces him to two Gemini astronauts, Gordon Cooper and Gus Grissom. This was Kennedy's third visit to Cape Canaveral, taking place a week before his assassination. During this tour, Kennedy was also briefed on the Apollo programme and took an aerial tour of the facility. The site was renamed the Kennedy Space Center in his honour on 29 November 1963.
