Polarised light micrograph of the crystalline structure of a pain-killing drug called Distalgesic. The micrograph shows a large number of dendrites, or tree-like structures, which formed during the solidification process. After the primary dentrites form they rapidly send out secondary arms, which develop at specific angles, followed by tertiary arms at other specific angles, until solidification occurs. Magnification x10 at 35mm size. Microcosmos P. 135 fig.
