Beehive nipple cactus, Coryphantha vivipara var. While the species as a whole is very widely distributed across western US north into Canada and north-central Mexico, this variety is limited to the Great Plains region of western OK, central and western TX, and west into southern NM. This specimen is growing at the base of Yucca pallida which is a north-central TX endemic species. Photo taken Parker Co., TX.
