Onion Root Tip, demonstration of cell mitosis. Onion root tips are used for viewing the different phases of cell division (mitosis) because the chromosomes are large and and very dark when stained. All phases of mitosis can be observed: interphase, prophase, anaphase, metaphase, and telophase. Magnification x100, 35mm film.
