Oedema of the hand. Swollen fingers of a 72-year-old woman with oedema. Oedema is an abnormal swelling due to an accumulation of fluid in the body tissues. It can be caused by several factors, including heart failure, kidney failure and cirrhosis of the liver. The indentation is from a ring that has just been removed.
