Caption

The Valdina Farms Salamander, Eurycea troglodytes, is an endemic to Texas. The species has populations living both above and below ground. The species lives its entire life in an aquatic, larval body form, known as paedomorphism. It will reach sexual maturity in this juvenile form. This individual was photographed at Lost Maples State Natural Area, Bandera County, Texas, USA, in September 2013.
