The gonyleptid harvestmen of the austral forests of Chile rank among the most beautiful and dramatic of the daddy longlegs in the world. These arachnids are opilionids, related to spiders, mites, and scorpions. Sadocus are slow moving and many are spiny, possibly a deterrent to predators. This harvestman was photographed in south Chile in 2013.
