Caption

Fatty liver, post-mortem. Dissected liver from a patient who had fatty liver disease (FLD, steatorrhoeic hepatosis). In this condition, fat accumulates in the liver. There are numerous possible causes, including alcoholism and metabolic disorders. The condition leads to an enlarged liver. If left untreated, scar tissue (cirrhosis), reduced liver function, and sometimes liver cancer, can result.
