Euclid space telescope. Display model of equipment to be used on the European Space Agency (ESA)'s Euclid space telescope. This spacecraft is due to be launched in 2020 to accurately measure galactic redshift to help determine the rate of expansion of the universe and hence the amounts of components of the universe known as dark matter and dark energy. Photographed on 2 October 2016, at an open day at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. This open day is part of the wider 'Weekend of Science' (weekend van de wetenschap) held in the Netherlands. Scientific institutions throughout the country hold public events and displays. ESTEC is part of the European Space Agency (ESA) and is a popular destination on this weekend.
