A model of a microstrip patch phased array antenna used as part of a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system on the NovaSAR-S satellite. The antenna is printed on a flat surface and fed by S-band solid state amplifiers to form a beam that scans the Earth below the satellite. Reflected signals received by the satellite are processed to form an image. Photographed at the trade exhibition accompanying the 2013 International Astronautical Congress (IAC), which was held in Beijing, China.
