Detached retina. Fundoscopy image of the detached retina of a patient's right eye. The retina is the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye. Retinal detachment occurs when fluid accumulates between the retina and the choroid. The condition may be secondary to inflammation or tumour of the choroid or a disorder of the vitreous humour. It may require surgical treatment.
