Herpes simplex keratitis. Fluorescein dye (with blue excitation) being used to highlight (green area) inflammation and ulceration of the cornea of the eye in a case of herpes simplex keratitis. This condition is due to an infection of the cornea by the herpes simplex virus. Keratitis is an inflammation of the cornea, the transparent front part of the eye. This is the patient's left eye.
