Chronic guttate parapsoriasis. Clinical view of lesions on the arm of a 42-year-old woman in a case of chronic guttate parapsoriasis. Parapsoriasis refers to skin disorders that resemble the scaly lesions that form in psoriasis, though the cause is different. Another name for this form of parapsoriasis is pityriasis lichenoides chronica (PLC). It is thought to be caused by hypersensitivity to viruses such as the Epstein-Barr virus. Treatments include ultraviolet phototherapy, topical steroids, and oral antibiotics.
