Caption

Mating lions (Panthera leo). During the breeding season male and female lions pair up and court constantly, and may copulate 30-40 times a day. During copulation the female bends close to the ground and the male steps over her, as seen here. Often whilst mating, the male lightly grasps the back of the female's neck with his teeth. Photographed in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier park in Southern Africa.
