Killer whale (Orcinus orca) hunting South American Sea lion pups on a beach. This adult male known is known as Mel and was 45 to 50 years old when this image was taken (March 2006) Intentional stranding is a unique hunting strategy of the small population of Orcas in northern Patagonia. The sunset colors are reflected on Mel's wet skin. Photographed at Punta Norte, Valdes Peninsula, Province Chubut, Patagonia, Argentina.
