Blood plasma thawing machine. Bags of frozen blood plasma (yellow) being thawed in a heater. Donor blood is separated into its component parts (such as plasma) to make it easier to transfuse blood with the correct components. The plasma component can be frozen for later use. Blood transfusions are carried out to replace blood in people with blood disorders, or those who have lost blood through trauma or surgery. The blood group and type needs to be matched to that of the patient. This machine is from the company Helmer Scientific.
