From left: US-born Danish nuclear physicist Ben Roy Mottelson (born 1926), US physicist Norton Mark Hintz (1922-2016), and Mottelson's future second wife Britta Marger Siegumfeldt (1936-2014), after a swim in the St Croix River, Minnesota, USA. Mottleson spent most of his career in Copenhagen, Denmark, at the Institute for Theoretical Physics. He was jointly awarded the 1975 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on theories of atomic nuclei. His first wife died in 1975. He married Siegumfeldt in 1983. Hintz was a professor of physics at the University of Minnesota from 1952 to 1992. Photographed on 22 July 1981.
