Filament-bearer looper moth, Nematocampa limbata. The caterpillar of this moth is extremely strange in appearance and has 2 bifurcate filaments that sprout from the middle of its back. The wingspread of the adult moth is less than one inch. It can be found from British Columbia and Nova Scotia south to FL and west to CA. Photo taken Dallas, TX on cedar elm (Ulmus crassifolia).
