A 3D molecular model of histrelin, a pharmaceutical drug used to treat hormone-sensitive cancers such as prostate cancer in men and uterine fibroids in women. Histrelin leads to decreased levels of luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone, which prevents the gonads from producing the sex steroids involved in certain cancers. Histrelin is also administered to transgender children to help suppress puberty until the patient is ready to begin cross-sex hormonal therapy.
