Nickel sulphide precipitate, 2 of 3. Nickel sulphide (NiS) precipitate (black) formed by adding 0.25 M solution of nickel sulphate (NiSO4) drop by drop to 0.25 M solution of sodium sulphide (Na2S). The reaction is Na2S + NiSO4 -> NiS + Na2SO4. This is an example of a double replacement reaction.
