Kerion fungal scalp infection. Close-up of the head of a boy with a tinea fungal infection of the scalp (tinea capitis) that has developed into a condition known as kerion. This is where the hair follicles discharge pus and sometimes blood. Kerion is mainly caused by the zoophilic species of Trichophyton. Treatment is with antifungal drugs.
