This sagittal (from the side) T1 weighted MRI without contrast shows a large hypointense (dark) mass involving the cingulate gyrus, corpus callosum and septum pellucidum. A large amount of mass effect with compression and inferior displacement of the corpus callosum is seen. This is a WHO grade III astrocytoma (anaplastic astrocytoma) which is high grade (aggressive biologic behaviour).
