This coronal (from the front) CT image viewed with a bone window shows an area of osteonecrosis (devitalized-dead bone) involving the mandible (on the viewers right). This is reported to be related to the administration of biphosphonates for a variety of bone conditions including multiple myeloma, metastatic bone lesions, osteoporosis, pagets disease, primary hyperparathyroidism, osteogenesis imperfecta and fibrous dysplasia.
