This axial (cross section) CT image of the opposite temporal bone also shows the cystic cochleovestibular anomaly (IP-I). This occurs at about the 5 week of gestation. This is a type of congenital malformation of the inner ear resulting in congenital sensorineural hearing loss. There is also an enlarged vestibular aqueduct.
