L3 particle detector. Engineers inserting the support tube (grey) into the L3 detector at CERN (the European particle physics laboratory) near Geneva, Switzerland. The red structure is a large magnet. L3 was built around the large electron positron (LEP) accelerator ring to study the subatomic particles produced by the high energy collisions.
