Caterpillar of the filament-bearer looper moth, Nematocampa limbata. This small (3/4 inch) and extremely bizarre caterpillar turns into a nondescript tan moth. It can be found from British Columbia and Nova Scotia south to FL and west to CA. Photo taken Dallas, TX on cedar elm (Ulmus crassifolia).
