NA31 experiment apparatus. Proton accelerator and particle detector at CERN (the European particle physics laboratory) near Geneva, Switzerland. This apparatus was used for the north area 31 (NA31) experiment to study antimatter. The physicists working on NA31 observed the first CP (charge parity) violation in the decay of neutral kaons. This is important as it could explain matter/antimatter imbalance. Photographed in 1993.
