Flea. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a flea (order Siphonaptera). Fleas have powerful legs adapted for jumping, and their flattened shape allows them to move easily through the host's fur. They have sharp mouthparts that pierce the host's skin so that they can feed on its blood. Fleas only remain on their hosts while feeding.
