In 2015, the NASA probe New Horizons finally arrived at Pluto after a decade-long flight. As the probe passed the dwarf planet, it peered back towards the Sun and photographed Pluto with its scant atmosphere illuminated by the Sun behind it. This image shows the scene, with Charon at upper right.
