Bee mite, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). This is a Varroa parasitic mite, which attacks the honey bees Apis cerana and Apis mellifera. The disease caused by the mites is called varroatosis. Imaged using a backscatter electron detector (BSD). Magnification: x67 when printed at 10 centimetres across.
