Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Paecilomyces variotii conidia. This fungus is commonly found in soil or dust and is allergenic. Paecilomyces variotii is thermophilic and can grow at temperatures up to 50 degrees centigrade. It is linked to humidifier associated illnesses and wood trimmers disease. It can cause the disease called paecilomycosis. Some Paecilomyces spp. Magnification: x1,600 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
