Astrocytoma brain cancer. Coloured median sagittal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan of the brain of a 33-year-old woman with a brain lesion (centre left) that is suggestive of an astrocytoma, a type of brain cancer. Gadolinium contrast medium has been used for this scan. This is a pilocytic astrocytoma affecting both hemispheres of the brain. This is a rare case, as pilocytic astrocytomas usually occur in young patients.
