Angioedema. Close-up of the face and eyes of a 89-year-old female patient affected by angioedema (angioneurotic oedema). Angioedema is an allergic reaction characterised by the swelling of soft tissue in the face and other areas. Treatment is with anti-inflammatory drugs and antihistamines. In this case the angioedema was an allergic reaction the drug spironolactone, used to treat heart failure.
