Self harm. Self-inflicted lacerations on the arm of a 91-year-old woman suffering from Alzheimer's disease and depression. Self harm is physical injury inflicted by an individual upon themselves. It is often a manifestation of emotional distress and can occur in patients with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, and in depression.
