Nahal Me'arot caves. Mannequins used to depict a pre-historic human settlement in a cave in the Nahal Me'arot national Park, Israel. These caves in the Carmel Mountains contain evidence of over 150 thousand years of pre-historic human habitation. Humans are thought to have lived here throughout three distinct cultures; the Acheulian culture, Muarian culture and Mousterian culture, starting with Homo erectus and ending with Homo neanderthalensis (Neanderthals).
