Close-up of thalloid liverworts producing female gametophytes, or archegonia. These are reproductive structures that produce female sex cells. Liverworts are non-vascular plants of the division Marchantiophyta. They are small plants, and typically grow in moist environments. Filmed in the humid misty cloud forest on the western slopes of the Andes near Mindo, Ecuador.
