Bronchial divisions. Coloured 3D computed tomography (CT) scan of the primary and secondary divisions of the trachea and the lung bronchi (pink). This view looks from the heart towards the throat, and is part of the chest region known as the mediastinum. At top, the trachea (windpipe) divides into the two primary bronchi (left and right). These divide further into the secondary bronchioles. Further division into yet smaller bronchioles takes place deeper in the lungs. Vertebrae (orange) in the spine are seen running down centre. This is a frontal view in a 45-year-old man.
